Following a 25 year career in the architecture profession, painter Catherine Scott now operates Catherine Scott Studio. She paints in her rural, northern Colorado studio, produces architecture renderings and graphics, and works part-time as a museum technician at the Longmont Museum and Cultural Center in Longmont, Colorado.

Catherine originally graduated from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts where she excelled in abstract, non-representational painting influenced by her then urban surroundings. Whether urban, rural or industrial, landscape has always been Catherine's passion. In recent years Catherine has developed a desire to combine her "process painting" instincts with recognizable, representational imagery. She now produces contemporary landscapes based upon the rural, agricultural Colorado landscape she sees on a daily basis.

Catherine follows a "more with less" philosophy and strives to create paintings which suggest rather than explain. She constantly experiments with paint application, and tends to work in layers, often building up a rich surface patina.
